TRAILER 5 - INTERSTELLAR
Interstellar
The teaser trailer is 1 minute 52 seconds long. Which is slightly longer than expected but not enough to be subverting the trailer standards. The trailer consists of dramatic music and a voice over from the main character. A montage of secondary clips that are not a part of the actual film are shown. These accompanied with the ambiguous narration help the audience to gain an understanding of what the central themes are. The last 45 seconds consist of shots from the film itself, although not any giving away the plot.
The theatrical trailer is 3 minutes which is also slightly long. It gives away a lot more of the story line especially with the dialogue. A feature used a lot is dialogue being used as a voice over for different shots. This way more can be shown within the 3 minutes. Also particularly important lines can be said with a black screen shown. This was the audience is completely on what is being said, giving it more impact. For example this is used for the line "we ran out of food". This line is important as it tells the audience an integral part of the plot. It is also used for the very last line in the trailer "I'm coming back". From this line the audience can infer a big part of the plot as well.
