PROPS IDEAS

Magnetic Putty
A key aspect of how we will get our trailer to look futuristic and dystopian is use of new technology. We intend to create certain technology that is not real which will make it clear to the audience this is set in the future.
The main prop we need to plan is a scanner that students will use when walking into assembly. On the actors wrist we will use a Fitbit as that has the futuristic look we need. However the prop they scan against will be harder to create.

Our first idea was to get a black box and put a phone inside to shine a blue light. However we feel this would look very fake and cheap which could ruin the authenticity of the whole trailer.
Another idea was to use metallic putty to put over a phone as the blue light shines through. After researching more about metallic putty we realised this would not work.

Sophia, the robot. First robot to receive citizenship.
The final idea we have is to use an iPad. We have bought a wall mount for it and we will pre-record something to play on the screen. The video will be of the screen flashing which the actors will scan their wrists in time to. The video needs to look very futuristic to match the dystopian feel we aim for. An idea we have is for the screen to feature a pulse - like line that will jump when it is scanned. Also when it is scanned a voice similar to siri or alexa could say something. The idea of artificial intelligence taking over and having a mind of its own has been extremely popular lately, especially with the new technological advances such as Sophia the Robot. We could use this fear in our film by having the AI voice give demands or threats.
